It started in 2020 during the covid 19 pandemic. Victoria was pregnant and craving for soft githeri with yellow beans. She tells her story:
“As I was driving, just before I could get to the market to get the ingredients, I came across street vendors selling it among other cereals. Since it was almost 7 pm curfew, I decided to just buy and go home to fry it. Little did I know that this would be the beginning of a troublesome night. I got food poisoning and was rushed to hospital and was on IV the entire night. Later on, I discovered that as the githeri is prepared, they add magadi as a catalyst to cut on production cost and also time. The packaging was also unhygienic. After I left the hospital, that’s where the idea was born. I started by introducing it to my friends who were up for it, then made fliers and posted them online, then opened social media handles that have given me so many clients. I started by boiling cereals from home, then this year, I introduced samosas and spring rolls.”
