Concept: Overnight Oats
Concept: Overnight Oats
Course: Recipes, KidsOvernight oats are magical. They’re a brilliant vehicle for using a half eaten apple, spotty bananas, or slightly overripe mangoes. Simply layer up the flavours you want, and let them sit overnight… here are some ideas:
INGREDIENTS
- BASIC
Oats
Mylk, milk or water (and sometimes I even use a little kombucha)
Seeds – I love using chia, sunflower, linseed
A little sweetener (if the fruit isn’t enough) such as honey
- ADDITIONAL INGREDIENTS / FLAVOURS
Blueberries & bananas
Nut butter & banana
Strawberry & cocoa nibs
Apple & cinnamon
Mango & lime
Banana & honey
Granola & raisin
Raspberry & Macatella
Directions
- I make layers of the ingredients first, in this kind of order: oats – seeds – fruit – oats – seeds – fruit, until I reach the top.
- Then pour over liquid to the top of the jar or bowl, plus 2 cm extra and allow to rest in the fridge overnight.
Take in the car, to work, or pour into your bowl and top with some granola for extra crunch.
