Greenspoon Scoops 3rd in Sustainability at KPMG/Business Daily Top 100 Mid-Sized Business Awards.
Greenspoon, the online grocery store that delivers farm fresh products directly to the customer, was founded by Juliet Kennedy in 2016 after she struggled to find healthy and safe products to feed her children.
The award for Top Woman CEO of the Year recognises 10 female founders that have made an impact in their businesses as extraordinary leaders, and under their helm as leaders, they have steered their companies to great financial success.
The award for sustainability, which Greenspoon won in third place, recognises businesses that have embedded Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) strategies at the core of their business. Greenspoon was Kenya’s first online retailer to make use of electric vehicles for deliveries, and today has a fleet that includes 3 EVs and 4 electric motorbikes. In addition, Greenspoon works closely with suppliers to streamline logistics and packaging materials, and recently achieved B Corporation status, which is a globally recognised certification for businesses that put people and planet at the core of their business.
Greenspoon focuses on organic, delicious, healthy, safe, local and sustainable products at an affordable price, with same day delivery around Nairobi, and next day delivery countrywide.
As the woman founder of the business Juliet Kennedy said: “These two awards mean a great deal to us as a business. Our North Star has always been the belief that food has the power to change the world, and I also believe that businesses can put people and planet at their core and still be profitable. As the founder of Greenspoon, I believe Kenya has a huge amount to offer our people, and the world, through supporting local producers, bringing healthy products to our customers, and be a force for change.”
Greenspoon is Kenya’s first online grocery store where sustainability lies at the heart of everything they do. The business delivers to customers the same day, every day of the year, and supports farmers and suppliers from the region.
