Korean style short ribs

Inspired by David Tanis on NYT cooking.

INGREDIENTS

  • 500g WHB short ribs

  • 3 tbsp soy sauce

  • 3 tbsp brown sugar

  • 3 tbsp rice wine

  • 1/2 tblsp sesame oil

  • 1 tsp black pepper

  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper

  • 4 garlic cloves, peeled and crushed

  • 1/2 inch chunk of ginger, peeled and grated

  • 2 tsp sesame seeds

Directions

  • Place the ribs in a shallow dish. Mix the rest of the ingredients together, and pour over the ribs.

    Marinate for a few hours if you can.
  • Get a frying pan (or better, a BBQ) heated up and put the ribs onto the heat for no more than a few minutes on each side, depending on how you like them.
    This is for a rare result.

    Otherwise, cook for 5 minutes on each side.
  • Pile the grilled meat, and serve with steamed rice and lettuce on the side.
