Chocolate with (real) conscience.
Founded in 2016, Latitude Craft Chocolate is a vertically integrated social enterprise producing specialty cocoa and craft chocolate at origin in Uganda.
The Latitude mission is to use absurdly tasty chocolate as a tool for creating local jobs and sustainably improving incomes for smallholder cocoa farmers throughout Uganda.
Latitude’s journey in chocolate was born out of a deep desire to build a sustainable traceable supply chain, serving the craft chocolate market with premium Ugandan cocoa while positively impacting thousands of households. They are obsessed with quality and sustainable development which meant that they quickly started building their own bean to bar factory here in Kampala, where their team of young Ugandan chocolate makers and chocolatiers produce Latitude’s full range of chocolate products – from bars and bonbons to couvertures. By using locally sourced ingredients and inclusions, the aim is to bring the unique flavours and culture of Uganda to the world through chocolate.
We are very proud to work with Latitude, which is also a Certified B Corporation company – meaning they meet the highest standards of overall social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability.
Latitude also invests in the small farm businesses supplying them; for many, the income from Latitude sustains their households. This can come from a farm of 1-5 acres of cocoa. Latitude is a social enterprise and aims not only to pay a premium price for cocoa, but to continuously innovate in order to help farmers mitigate risk and turn their hard-earned income into wealth.
