Crofts is a family run business which was founded in 2013. The company spent almost two years researching the technologies used in avocado oil production and setting up a strong supply chain by locating and contracting farmers from the Central region of Kenya. We selected the highest quality European machines to be installed and used within our manufacturing facility. The machines have been specifically built for purpose, to ensure we obtain the highest quality extra virgin avocado oil in the most efficient way possible
Croftsproduce high quality extra virgin olive oil made from the finest avocados grown in Kenya. Their oil is 100% natural and unrefined – this means the oil is extracted using a single cold pressed production method which is chemical free, ensuring all the essential nutrients are retained unlike refined oils. Avocado oil is idea for cooking due to its very high smoke point and good properties. The majority of essential fatty acids found in avocado oil are monounsaturated fats which have many health benefits. Avocados are also one of five foods with the highest vitamin E content. Avocado oil does not only benefit your body when eaten but can also be used as a moisturizing oil when applied to your skin.
As I am sure you all know, the quality of the avocados in Kenya is amazing, (maybe we are slightly biased!) but with efficient fruit management practices and supply chain, Crofts were able to get them to some of the best in the world. Crofts actively provide extension services to their farmers. Part of these services include training and educating the farmers on good farming practices, along with correct soil and land regeneration and encouraging the use of organic fertilizers. With contracts that are pro-fair trade, Crofts take huge pride in their farmer network.
Avocado farming is relatively soft on soil degeneration however it is relatively water intensive. Crofts, however advise their farmers to harvest rain water and use that to irrigate their farms. At their processing facility, their highly efficient European machinery ensure they use as little water as possible. Crofts also informed us that they are due to implement a water recycling system in our production facility which will enable us to reuse process water after filtration
