The Bosman Family has a history of growing wine in the Bovlei of Wellington dating back to 1810. Through 8 generations they have worked hard to create a better life for all who live and work on the farm. The family crest bares the motto: faith, hope, and love; and it is these words that inspire the family in the work they do in the community. Not only do they have farms in the Wellington and Hemel-en-Aarde regions, but they are also one of South Africa’s most successful vineyard nurseries. So in other words, even if you are not sipping on one of their wines, you would quite often be sipping on a wine that originated in their nursery.
In 2009, 260 permanently employed workers received a 26% stake in the business, a significant role player in the vine and wine growing industry of the Western Cape. To date, it is the largest land reform transaction in the history of the South African wine industry. Bosman Family Vineyards have also been a Fairtrade accredited producer since 2009. This means that a percentage of the proceeds of each bottle sold is donated to their Adama foundation, which contributes towards education and upliftment projects, identified and managed by the farm employees.
Tasting note:
Bosman Generation 8 Cabernet Sauvignon Blanc contains beautiful blackberry and plum aromas that are rounded out by a velvety mouthfeel and a long, fresh fruit-packed finish. Pair this with hearty beef casseroles and roasted meats.
