This Café Matz Arabica coffee is grown on the farms under a canopy of trees (shade coffee) by small scale coffee growers, located in the west of the Rift Valley on the lower slopes of Mt Elgon, on the Kenya side at an altitude of 1,000 to 2,000 meters above sea level. The rich fertile volcanic soil and tropical climate are ideal for growing this high quality Arabica coffee. This coffee is nurtured manually (weeding and pruning), hand picked, hand washed, sun dried and hand roasted. It provides a source of income to the rural poor communities in the region.

Handmade Jute hessian or burlap gift bags made from recycled coffee hessian Jute (gunny) bags by KOA CREATIONS, a community project by CAFEMATZ Coffee, roaster of MT Elgon Premium Coffee, a shade grown community Arabica coffee is grown on the farms under a canopy of trees (shade coffee) by small scale coffee growers, located in the west of the Rift Valley on the lower slopes of Mt Elgon, on the Kenya side. The bags are designed by KOA Creations ( a community project of KOA FARM) and produced by a community comprising of women and youth based in Mt Elgon region where CafeMatz coffee is grown, processed and then roasted.
The proceeds from the bags provide a source of lively hood to the rural poor communities (especially women and youth) in the region. This classic style hessian tote offers both style and practicality for the environmentally conscious. This unique bag has been handcrafted using hessian material. Our burlap bags are reusable, durable, extremely strong, able to degrade biologically year and have low ecological footprint. Spot cleaning is recommended. However, you can wash these in cold water, air dry and steam press. Care has been taken to select portions of the coffee bags which are intact. It is the nature of the bags to have some irregularities in the weave
