GRAPES:Â 100% Sangiovese
VINEYARD: Selected vineyards near the Castel del Monte area north of Bari in central Puglia.
HARVEST: Late September/early October
VINIFICATION: Grapes are de-stemmed and soft crushed, with very careful remontage in the early stage of fermentation for best extraction of colour and soft tannins. Fermentation is in stainless steel at a controlled temperature not exceeding 28°C. The juice remains in contact with the skins for a total of 10 days. There is no wood ageing.
ALCOHOL: 12.5% vol
TASTING NOTES: Fontella Sangiovese di Puglia – a very intense ruby red, and a typical cherry Sangiovese bouquet. Extremely ripe fruit, reminiscent of crushed cherries hits the palate. This wine is perfectly balanced, lively, rich and luscious, with a long complex finish. Try it with robust pasta dishes and pizza.
