PROFILE

Produced from the Syrah and Moscatel Roxo grape varieties, from vineyards located in the Peni?nsula of Setu?bal. After a careful sampling of the grape in the vineyard, the harvesting dates are marked. These varieties are vinified separately, using soft methods in the press, fermentations of the must at low temperature aiming at the conservation of the primary aromas of the grape. The grape enters the cellar, is cooled and gently pressed; The obtained wort, after being defecated, is fermented at low temperatures (10-12 ° C), thus achieving a very slow fermentation aiming at the preservation of the aromas of the grape varieties. The varietal wines are then blended, the Moscatel Roxo contributing to the floral aromas like the roses and the Syrah to the incarnate fruits like cherry. After the lots are made, there’s a protein and tartaric stabilization, followed by filtration. The final lot was made in January 2017 and was then bottled.

HISTORY

In 1996, Bacalho?a Wines of Portugal was regarded as the Best Company of the Year by author of Roteiro Pra?tico dos Vinhos Portugueses (Practical Roadmap for Portuguese Wines) for all the work that was done to increase wine consumption. The range of wine produced by Bacalho?a Wines is what some might call a genius idea and an excellent example of good price to quality relation. The author who wrote the roadmap said: “Antonio Francisco Avillez produced a wine that could be distributed and enjoyed by a large number of people, without disregard for quality. This way JP Azeita?o went against the tendency that high quality wines in Portugal were only available for the elite. The success of this wine was extended to international markets including high sales in the U.S. and Irish markets.
