Founded on the farm L’Ormarins in the Franschhoek Valley, Rupert Wines today encapsulates six distinctive wine brands, among them the Protea Range, made from some of the finest sites in the Western Cape, South Africa.Â
The ethos of the Protea range rides in the back of sustainability, i.e. Reduce. Reuse. Recycle. This a range consisting of everyday drinking wines, bearing the name of South Africa’s national flower, illustrating the diversity of the range and commitment to the viticultural area where this floral species flourishes. Each of the bottles is decorated with a bespoke pattern inspired by the Cape, making the bottle, like the wine an art piece in itself. The best part about this is that the label on the bottle can be peeled off, leaving you with a beautifully ornate bottle that can be reused or repurposed for a variety of decorative functions!
Tasting note:
Protea Sauvignon Blanc is made from a blend of grapes from various Coastal regions in the Western Cape, including Darling, Franschhoek, Paarl, Swartland and Wellington. Each vineyard contributes its own individual character to the attractive array of fruit and freshness that can be enjoyed in this Sauvignon Blanc. Clean and refreshing aromas of guava, gooseberry, and kiwi fruit are present up front on the nose. Good complexity shines through with a summer fruit medley combined with hints of asparagus and fresh-cut grass. Hints of wet stone and flint end with a lively and long finish.
