The connection from farmer to roaster and coffee-lovers as well as the environment is important to us at Safari Lounge. Through great coffee we can help protect and support the environment. Conservation projects especially in East Africa rely on tourism to help sustain the great work they do in protecting our wildlife. During the global pandemic these projects face an uncertain future and at Safari Lounge, we aim to support them through sales of coffee packs that are specific to a conservation project.
Uganda is home to half of the remaining estimated 1,000 Mountain Gorillas alive today, but struggling for a tomorrow. Gorilla Conservation Coffee is an award-winning social enterprise of Conservation Through Public Health (CTPH). Gorilla Conservation Coffee pays a premium price to coffee farmers living next to the gorillas around Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Supporting local farmers helps to protect the critically endangered gorillas and their fragile habitat.
This coffee blend is named after Kanyonyi, the former lead silverback of Mubare gorilla family who live in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. CTPH works with Uganda Wildlife Authority, local communities and other organisations to improve education, healthcare and livelihoods, so that humans and mountain gorillas can coexist.
You purchase of each pack will ensure $1 is donated to help save mountain gorillas. #savinggorillasonesipatatime.
