Safari Lounge coffee experts, from roasters to baristas, have come together to create an exciting sensorial experience through its elaborate coffee blends. North East of Thika, towards the south-eastern slopes of Mt Kenya, one reaches Embu, where coffee is the heart and soul of its people. Kahawa as its known in Swahili is its ‘black gold’ and provides for 75% of the area’s income.
Production in Embu is the domain of cooperatives and the area is famed for producing some of the highest quality coffee in Kenya.
Cup profile: dark cocoa, molasses, liquorice, smooth coating mouthfeel.
Brew: grind 60g of gourmet beans as fine as brown sugar crystals. Put into your machine / percolator. Add 1 litre of freshly boiled spring water at 85 degrees centigrade and wait for around 4 minutes before serving.
