Situated near Stellenbosch, Spier is one of South Africa’s oldest wine farms with a recorded winemaking history dating back to 1692. While rooted in this heritage, we’ve got a vibrant and conscious energy, and are home to one of the largest collections of contemporary South African art.
WINE MAKING
Grapes were harvested at ±24°B, gently crushed and de-stemmed to stainless-steel tanks. The use
of cultured and natural yeast helps to unlock the fragrant fruit profile of the grapes. After fermentation, 20% of the wine was matured in French-oak barrels for 8 to 10 months; the remainder matured in stainless-steel tanks with French-oak staves.
