From the scenic Rift Valley highlands, the cradle of world champion runners, comes nature’s special gift; Zawadi Coffee. This is the first Fair Trade certified coffee, owned by smallholder women coffee farmers in the Rift Valley.
Men in Kabngetuny and Kapkiyai Cooperative Societies transferred ownership of coffee bushes to their wives and daughters in a bid to promote gender equality and inclusion. The women then added value and came up with the name ‘Zawadi’ meaning ‘gift’ as the bushes were gifts.
Each serving contains a promise of superior quality specialty coffee, lovingly nurtured and grown with dedication. Each sip secures a sustainable livelihood for a farmer and helps her fulfill her potential.
