Spiced Hot Chocolate
Course: Recipes, Christmas, DessertThe perfect way to warm up on a cold winter evening, this spiced rich, and a creamy mug of cocoa has a gentle kick (depending on how generous you are with the chili powder) — hot chocolate doesn’t get much better than this.Â
INGREDIENTS
250ml milk (plant-based or dairy)
1 cinnamon stickÂ
40g 70% cocoa dark chocolate, finely chopped
½ tablespoon jaggery or honeyÂ
¼ teaspoon vanilla extractÂ
Pinch of chili powder
Pinch of sea salt
Directions
- Pour the milk into a saucepan, add the cinnamon stick and bring to a boil. Take off the heat, cover, and leave to infuse for 15 minutes. Remove the cinnamon stick, then return the saucepan to low heat and whisk in the chocolate, jaggery/honey, vanilla extract, a pinch of chili powder, and salt.
- Continue to whisk occasionally for around 3 minutes until the chocolate has melted and the hot chocolate is thick, rich, and creamy.
