Celebrating the success of the Homeless of Nairobi Project!
The Homeless of Nairobi project was a success! A heartfelt thank you to our incredible suppliers and customers whose unwavering support made this project a triumph! Without your generosity, this achievement would not be possible.
HON, also known as The Odijo Foundation, spearheads this initiative by providing a daily hot meal to Nairobi’s homeless population. Collaborating with dedicated volunteers, HON ensures that free meals are served each day in the Deep Sea Slums of Highridge, catering to those who are in need but unable to afford a meal.
HON’s mission is to aid the helpless, amplify the voiceless, and offer shelter to those without a roof over their heads in Nairobi. They raise awareness of the challenges faced by the homeless population, inspiring collective action through our various programs and endeavors.
Currently, the Homeless of Nairobi program is actively engaged in several initiatives. We are committed to rehabilitating 90 children and youth who have been rescued from the streets, providing them with necessities such as food, shelter, clothing, counseling services, and basic education.
During the Christmas period, we rallied our customers to contribute Kshs. 100 for a meal, resulting in a remarkable achievement of Kshs. 380,600 raised – equivalent to feeding 3,806 individuals! Our team members dedicated their time every Thursday to volunteer to cook and serve these meals in the deep sea slum.
In addition, we visited their children’s home in Gachie, where we interacted with the kids, played, cooked, and shared moments of joy. This personal connection further deepened our commitment to making a positive impact on their lives.
A special acknowledgment goes to our suppliers, including AAA Growers, Kagira Ridge, Mlango Farm, ForestFoods, and Ryaivas, who generously donated fresh vegetables to enhance the nutritional value of the meals.
Looking ahead, we are excited to continue our support for the HON project. This year, we remain committed to making a positive impact and creating a meaningful difference in the lives of those who need it most. Together, let’s continue to make a lasting impact on the community we serve.
