Squishy Baby Range: Embracing Natural Solutions for Happy and Healthy Skin
Every single mom out there has a super important job: making their child’s world full of love and warmth. We all face challenges, but we tackle them head-on with a never-ending supply of love and a sense of duty that keeps us going. Trust me, as a mom of three, I’ve been on a wild adventure of learning and growing right alongside my kiddos.
When I welcomed my third little bundle of joy into the world, I thought I had motherhood all figured out. But surprise! This adorable munchkin came with a fierce battle against Eczema (atopic dermatitis) and some seriously stubborn cradle cap from day three. Like any determined mom, I dove headfirst into the world of products, spending my hard-earned money on anything that promised relief. I consulted with my pediatrician and experimented with various solutions, but nothing provided long-lasting results. It was a frustrating cycle of temporary relief followed by more itching, inflamed skin, and a very unhappy baby. I even tried changing his milk and switching up our soaps and fabrics, but the struggle continued.
I held onto hope that this phase would pass and things would get better for my little one. In the meantime, I made it my mission to figure out precisely what his precious skin needed and took proactive steps to keep it moisturized. Trust me when I say, I became a pro at applying and reapplying a whole range of products on his skin, at least three times a day. But as I kept at it, I couldn’t help but wonder about the potential effects of using so many chemical products on his delicate skin.
I did a little bit more research and was genuinely surprised at how many moms had serious concerns about and difficulty dealing with eczema
A study conducted by The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) found that over the last 30 years, there has been a twofold to threefold increase in pediatric atopic dermatitis. Can you imagine? Most kids develop atopic dermatitis before they even turn two, and a whopping 20 percent of people get eczema before they hit five (as reported by the Eczema Association of Australia).
Sadly, despite all this research and information, many parents are still using baby products that are packed with harmful toxins. It’s mind-boggling! We’re talking about parabens, talc, sulfates, propylene glycol, and DEA—just to name a few of the nasty ingredients found in baby bath, skin, and hair care products, as well as wipes and diaper creams. Yikes!
Once I gained this knowledge, I decided to switch things up and take a more simple and natural approach with my little one. I started by giving him oat baths and used castor and avocado oil for moisturizing—believe it or not, less was actually more! The simpler I kept things, the happier his skin became. My main focus was on calming the redness and strengthening his skin’s moisture barrier, while his growing body and gut worked through the sensitivities that triggered his eczema.
Let me tell you, cutting out toxins and chemicals not only provided immediate relief, but it also gave me peace of mind. Knowing that I wasn’t adding to his toxin buildup at such a young age felt absolutely fantastic. And that’s what led to the creation of the squishy kid’s product line. With the help of a cosmetic formulator and skincare specialist, we first developed our very own nontoxic moisturizing lotion. and It didn’t stop there! We also developed a wonderfully silky hair and body oil that nourishes and detangles his adorable curls, along with a soothing and natural diaper rash cream for those sensitive areas.
I can’t even begin to express how excited I am to personally share these three incredible products with all the fantastic mommies right here in Kenya. It’s a dream come true for me!
