The German Bakehouse is an Artisan bakery specialized in wholesome sourdough bread, soft pretzels, signature rolls and pastries inspired by authentic German recipes.
They take pride in their German traditional recipes and intricately hand bake their product and also cater a various range of taste and diets. They specialise in a wide range of vegan and gluten-free products.
Schwarzbrot is a whole grain bread, made with at least 90% whole rye grain. Traditionally, the Schwarzbrot is baked slowly (for 24 hours) to allow the sugars in the bread to caramelize. This gives the bread its dark brown colour and its sweet taste.
The Schwarzbrot requires at least 12 hours for cooling so that it can be sliced, given it’s a heavy type of bread. Hence why the sliced variant can only be delivered on Friday.
