Homemade Advent Calendar
We can’t find an advent calendar for love nor money so it’s homemade all the way and here’s what I plan to do!
Homemade Advent Calendar
Course: Recipes, ChristmasEQUIPMENT
24 brown paper bags
White paint
A long length of ribbon
Small wooden clothes pegs
- Enough for 24 days of opening!
A chocolate pretzel tree
Orange peel Christmas tree decorations
Our wooden nativity set split over twelve days
Old tin cans turned into candle holders
A snow globe
Little twig stars
Firelighters
Homemade wooly pompoms
Gingerbread men
Potatoes (and that day, we’ll make potato print wrapping paper)
A Pamoja Workbook from Brackenology
Brownie mix in a jar (and that day we’ll make brownies)
Stove top pot pourri mix
Directions
- Start with the brown paper bags. Using the white paint, draw each number of the month onto the bag; 1 – 24.
- String up your ribbon somewhere small hands can’t reach ;-). Clip the bags onto the ribbon. If you’re like me and it’s a bit last minute, put the gifts in as and when you have them. If you’re super organised (bravo!) then put all the gifts in.
- Once you’ve opened a day, turn the bag around and clip it on so that the kids can see how many they’ve opened (the bags with no number on it) and how many are still to go.
