Maggie’s Butcher is owned and run by Maggie, who grew up and spent plenty of her younger years on a massive farm in Namibia where she learned all there is to know about beef and meat. She sources her beef from her brother’s ranch which is around the coast of Kenya. Like many new world students, she’s learned a lot of butchering skills from YouTube videos, and lots of practice and new age she can carve a hunk of beef like a master craftsman.
Maggie sources her chicken from local farmers who practice free-range rearing of the birds, which not only ensures that they live a happy life but also ensures that soil is taken care of as they scratch and forage the land. They are humanely reared and slaughtered so you can enjoy a guilt-free dining experience.
A schnitzel is a thin slice of meat. The meat is usually thinned by pounding with a meat tenderizer. Most commonly, the meat is breaded before frying. Schnitzel is very similar to the dish escalope in France & Spain, Tonkatsu in Japan and kotlet schabowy in Poland.
Chicken schnitzel is great enjoyed with fries, leafy vegetables or mashed potatoes and gravy.
