4 cups water
4 cups whole milk
1 vanilla pod or extract
20 whole black peppercorns
10 cardamom pods
10 pieces cloves
2- 4 cinnamon sticks
2-inch fresh ginger
2 tbsp jaggery
2 tbsp black tea
1 tsp cinnamon powder
Directions
- Boil water in a cooking pan on medium heat. In a mortar or grinder, coarsely crushed
whole pepper, cardamom, and cloves, set aside. - Grate ginger and set aside, then break the cinnamon bark into chunks. Add all the
spices to the boiling water and let boil for 8 to 10 minutes on a medium flame. - Add in black tea leaves. Boil for 2 to 3 minutes until the tea has fully brewed.
- In another pan bring the milk to a boil then turn off the heat and add in vanilla and
jaggery. Whisk until sugar dissolves then froth the milk with a frother or immersion
blender. - Strain the tea into your favourite mug then pour over the hot frothy milk and sprinkle
a pinch of cinnamon powder.
