We’ve always been about going the extra mile (pun intended!) and in this case, we wanted to do our bit for one of the most beautiful green spaces in Nairobi.Â
Ngong Road Forest Sanctuary is close to our hearts because it’s near a lot of our customers, it’s a green space, it is home to thousands of beautiful trees, birdlife and wildlife, and it’s an important sanctuary for small wildlife species. Without green spaces, we lack the interconnectedness of nature with ourselves, because we are one with nature. But sometimes you need to go into a forest and reconnect with that in order to remember its importance.Â
Sunday was a really fun day. We started as the sun got up, with the 21km runners who were super keen to get going. They followed a route that went through the larger part of the forest that many people don’t get to visit. Large trees, a lovely route, a few tumbles for some runners, and they were soon back at base. The 10km and 5km runners and walkers left a little later, some with dogs in tow and some more ambitious parents with children in tow (or ahead of them on bikes).Â
As the runners came back through to the end of the run, they were welcomed back by the Greenspoon team with water and soft drinks, a goodie back with a Fat Italian brownie and Mlango Farm vegan carrot cake, a Kenyan Originals iced tea, and coffee on tap from Spring Valley.
Â
In the end, we raised Kshs 235,720, which will help fence 94 meters of the forest; a great achievement!! We are excited to try and at least triple this contribution in 2023.

Please join us next year to be part of it!!
